There's a Remington 1123 Trapper with bone scales on eBay. Item number 320153541711. It's only at $327.00 right now, but I'm sure it's going to go a lot higher. I don't know anything about Remingtons, but I took a look in Jim Sargents book and the value, (I'm assuming for a mint one) is way up there. The seller also has some other nice looking older knives, ie. Naugatuck, Wards and a Henkels.

It seems that Remington bullets don't bring prices anywhere near what price guides say anymore. Extremely nice examples will bring top prices, but I would examine them very carefully. There is a lot of very good work being done on reworked knives, and it's hard to detect some of them.

The price you saw in the book was indeed for a mint condition knife. The knife you see on ebay will grade about VG and will have a book value of about 25% of the mint price.
