Post up your F&F's. I just bought a 47 Hayn helper hawkbill..it looks like it will be a great garden knife! But those 99 Farmer lock backs look great! Wish I saw them when they dropped!

Here's one of those glow in the dark models. I forced patina on the O1 tool steel blade with vinegar.

It's pretty easy. I just clean the blade with alcohol then dip for 15-20 minutes in medium hot, not boiling, white vinegar and a quick rinse with hot tap water. I had to play around a little to get it right. It works as well on Case CV steel.

Sorry but they do not do IT for me. Just a guy... There is that China knife that has square corners that is about 50 bucks w/ bearings but I don't like that either. Square knives don't float my boat. Sorry!

Wazu: While I do use vinegar I never thought to heat it. Interesting. I am manually challenged [clutzy] so I may not try it lest I overheat the blade and mess up the temper. Then my own personal temper will become overheated.

Garry, you would have to get a hair of a lot hotter than the boiling point of Acetic acid (vinegar) -- 244.6°F -- to do any damage to the temper of the blade. (see image below) so feel free to patina at will.

The farm & field 71 is one of my favorite knives ever made, it's darn near perfect for a single blade no frills work knife.

I don't know about you guys but I'm really excited about the new run of #71 Bullnoses. Here's hopin' that GEC makes a lot of 'em! I've got a red micarta on reserve to avoid any kind of scramble. In honor of this anticipation, a couple pics of my #47 Hayn' Helper in his native habitat. Those tough bags of feed don't stand a chance!
