I recently got a metal detector, and found this on my first hunt (less than 2 minutes after turning it on):

It is either Boy Scout or Girl Scout, cannot tell from the photo. If that is green I am seeing a hint of in the photo, then I will lean toward the Girl Scout side. The stamp on the tang has important info as to the maker and the shield should ID the user group.

Just letting you all know that I went hunting today and didn't find anything worth mentioning. 
But I'm not giving up just yet.
