I have a couple of those Camillus 89 knives. One of my all time favorites. They’re the same size as the CASE 6375, my all time favorite.
Truth be told there are some things I like about the Camillus better than the CASE. Great knives. It’s a shame someone else doesn’t pick up the pattern.

Gotta love the "Indian Stag". I wonder if they were marketing it today would they have to be politically correct and rename it "Native American Stag"?
Unless of course it was made in India! LOL

Don't count me in that number! I love my stockman pattern knives. Always carry either a Case 6375, 6275 or a Queen #49 when I'm working around the place along with a tactical that I can abuse. (Don't hold me to this while I'm giving the mysteriously donated RR Trapper a real rough ride.

)
I have several stockmen made by Camillus, Bucks and Remington's, they are unused, just waitin' for something.
Stockman is a very practical knife for a working man!

I agree. Stockman is what I think of first when I think of a pocket knife.

Most folks seem to cuss the Indian stag, and I know it isn’t as nice to look at as real stag. But, it does provide a good grip with a nice feel in the hand, and it is darn near indestructible. I don’t mind it at all on a using knife.

Some of my favorites. From left to right. Brantford, Bridge, Queen, Keen Kutter, Syracuse, Ulster. One of my favorite patterns, the stockman.

Hey neighbor Queen still makes one. Sawcut bone handles and 1095 carbon steel. There's also some you can use as beaters from the pacific rim although you may not like them.

I am fond of the pattern. This looks like a good place to bump this thread:

To me a Stockman is just what I think of first as a pocket knife. That alone makes it NOT my favorite pattern because I look at them as rather plain. BUT that first Camillus, the Buck posted later, and a couple others (Brantford) do tick the boxes for me.
Since Camillus is my personal favorite, I am adding another must have to the list, and If I find a Buck/Brantford in the mean time... YUP! I'm digging in the couch for quarters as I type.
I'm glad you posted this thread !!!

Great looking knives guys. I did a poll here about 5-6 (maybe longer) years ago asking everyone what their favorite knife pattern was and although mine is the Whittler I believe the stockman was the overall favorite

That is interesting Gino.
I guess that goes along with what my first thought of a pocket knife is.
Now I have to ask if it is the most widely produced pattern or is it the most requested pattern?
Chicken, and the egg type question...

I am not a great fan of the stockman pattern, myself. But when I was growing up in the 1960s most everyone I knew carried a stockman, including me. Basically, when I thought the word pocketknife then a stockman was what I thought of. Here are a couple that are representative of what I used to carry, a Colonial and a Kutmaster.

Without a doubt the most useful patern for everything

one of my favorites is this brass bolster Camillus made for L.L.Bean.
