All About Pocket Knives

I think chipped flint looks really cool on buck knives so let's see them. I'll start with one I've posted before. The coa didn't mention who made it but it's fabulous.

Well alrighty then... Here is no 2. Another partial Chip flint nickel silver, buffalo horn scales and buffalo inlay 112. Another sweet knife.

You have no idea who is making these?

I can't find any info on them in folding knives. Just Bowie type knives.

Of course they're Buck but the 110 was probably a remer/stone but the coa doesn't state it. Bcci had one just like it sans the chipped finish.

Frj, it's my understanding that it is done on a belt sander with a small wheel mounted under the belt.

I would have thought a diamond rotary tool. There is a lot of detail work in the first blade but I guess there are a few real pros with a belt.

It would be cool to try it on something like Aluminum plate for practice, and then on one of those big Pakistan bone handle/ Damascus folders.
Re-etch the blade, and I think it could be a pretty nice knife.

I have a bunch of Al plate, and a couple folders. Just talked myself into it.

Just love the chipped flint blades especially on 110s / 112s and 113s , they seem to belong there , unfortunately as usual here in the UK there does not seem to be a facility or outlet to purchase these knives , only basic models and I cant see why buck does not offer the option of customised knives in the UK .

This is a Buck Chip Flint I picked up a few years back. I noticed it has the same Buffalo handle with Buffalo inlay as the folder above.

Smnw sold them about 10 years ago in the Kalinga, 110 and 112. I have the 110/112.

Well the Buffalo shields got my attention!

I'm pretty sure David and/or Brian Yellowhorse were the first to introduce the "chipped flint" concept and the most common are the Buck 110's.(maybe some 112's) However, I've never known them to not sign their work and there have been a lot of people customize knives in the Yellowhorse style. Myself included, but with far less pizzazz.

Cool knives kossetx, one of the Yellowhorse 'chipped flints' has always been on the short list of my "maybe someday" knives.
