All About Pocket Knives

As the header says, how do you store or display your collection. I have two wall mount glass front display cases that I display my favourites but have far more stuck in dressers that are begging to be shown. I have my eye on several 6 drawer cases on Amazon but they can be quite expensive. What is your method?

If I want to display some of my knives, I use the Case display shown in the photo. Most of my knives however, are stored in what are commonly known as "Silverware Rolls" or "Knife Rolls" in the second photo. These are kept in a climate controlled area.

There are, however, very ingenious ways to display knives and the guys here have some of the best methods I've ever seen. I'm sure you'll see some of those very shortly. These are not my photographs by the way...

This question comes up fairly often. I know when I first got on here I searched "knife displays" and am amazed at some of the displays of others I saw. All my knives are on display. Here are a couple pictures I've shared before.

Thanks Ed, displaying the knives and having them in the old original display cases is enjoyable to me.

Great display from both posters. Unfortunately the wife only stands for limited display, mostly in my room, says all those knives give her nightmares! I like the cutlery roll idea for ones that I don't display and probably keep them in my gun safe. I just ordered a 6 drawer cabinet to keep my nicer ones in that aren't in the wall units. Since my OCD has kicked in my collection is growing by leaps and bounds. Anyone else suffer from"collection fever"? Silly question,huh? I remember one poster who stated that he had several hundred! I'm not there yet but I'm on my way. I've branched out from Bucks to other brands. I just got 2 Robert Klaas canoes, a Winchester canoe that I'm a bit disappointed with as the snap is very weak and both blades have wobble, a Colt canoe with stag handles.an Imperial canoe with cracked ice scales ( really nice snap), a Marbles stag scale canoe with faux Damascus blade (good looking knife) and 2 Rough Riders. The first being a Rams horn scale canoeand the second being a high carbon steel trapper that came with a nice little leather thong baubles attached the the lathe bolster. Also a good looking knife.

I use these partitioned wooden display cases with hinged glass top lids. The lid is open in the pic to avoid glare from the glass. The Inhibitor plug in the center is a Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) product.
I use these Bill's Custom Cases for any folders that are too big for the wooden cases.

It may have been a post of mine that stated several hundred. That is in a time frame of 3-4 months.
I believe the majority of members dwarf my new collection, and I am POSITIVE that many have One knife that out values my entire collection.

That said, the displays shown are beautiful. I will be needing similar set ups for my shop soon. You can't sell what people can't see.

For now I use these nylon zipper bags. 22 knives per bag, and a silica gell pouch that I re-new every two weeks. (I live on the Gulf of Mexico in Fl.)
On FleaBay they (the bags) sell for 13 bucks, and I just bought a case of them (12 bags).
Conveniently the bags fit into Tupperware boxes they sell at the dollar store for 4 bucks. (10 bags per box).

The knives that I do want to keep will stay in the bag/box system. I enjoy random knives in random bags because every time I look thru them I find that "new" treasure all over again.

Keep the Mrs. happy... or do like I did ... GET OUT!!!

By the way Chayes... Any faults you find in any knife you like can be fixed. You might find a great knife for 10 bucks, and spend 20 to put a new back spring in it. It might not be an original collectible anymore but it will be what you want. No shame in owning what YOU want.

Ok, maybe not... I'm jealous!

They are industrial tool cabinets. A lot of people use them in tool and die shops. Popular brands are Lista, Lyons and maybe some others. You are supposed to be able to put 150#s in each drawer. They can be quite expensive. I have my eye on 2 more for sale in Louisville now just dont want to drop over $3000 for the pair.

As if I could stay away from a thread on knife displays. I have a small place with limited floor space so I started out with the 18" x 12" and the 18" x 24" wall display frames. Then I started modifying some of my furniture and building my own displays

k7k, I luv those old wooden machinist tool boxes.... My dad still has my grandfather's which he used every day that he worked at the brass works in Waterbury, Ct.
