All About Pocket Knives

I spotted this guy on eBay, the last one was bought at $450.00 in a Buy It Now auction that lasted a bit over 12 hours. I just thought that this may be interesting to follow since 2006 #23 Chocloate Bone knives, 1 of 19, were going for $177.50 to $215.00, at least the last 5. Amazing to think that at least 5 of the 19 went through eBay. So, as far as I know this is the second of 11 to go through eBay.

Lets see what the final selling price is, could be interesting. NO, I won't be bidding. Between my son and I, we ended up with 65 knives.

This will be interesting to watch. The last short run 2006 GEC I bid on at Ebay was a Northfield Brick Red. 26 of them made. I bid $230.00 and got beat. The Casein will be fun to watch! Kelley

I'm sure glad I got the whole set, including 5 knives that were 2006 UNSERIALIZED. I feel quite lucky and fortunate to be able to have these and my thanks go out to many dealers and distributors.

I counted and did an inventory on my GEC knives yesterday. I'm sending 22 knives to my son in Ohio for his graduation in May from High School. I have 43 knives left, 44 soon and I do have some I may customize, I just don't know yet. I also have a few extras, a 23 Amber Diamondback (Tidioute 110 made), a 73 Bark Moss Green (Northfield 26 made) a 73 Burnt Stag (Northfield 175 made), a 73 Sheffield Tobacco (GEC 177 made), and 2 extra 73 Chestnut Jigged bone (Tidioute). I may play with the extra 2 Chestnut Jigged bone and the Sheffield Tobacco since so many of those were made. The 2 that are more rare will stay as they are!

The 2006 tang stamped unserialized knives I have are the 23 Chocolate Bone, a 73 Bocote, a 73 GEC Green Tea, a 73 Burnt Stag, and a 73 Sheffield Tobacco. I am very thankful for all those who helped me get the 2006 unserialized knives with invoices or packing slips from GEC. I think the 2006 unserialized knives are going to be quite rare, I don't know about 2007, I've already seen some that were unserialized, meaning that they had already made 250 or 350, which ever the case may be.

I'd bid on that Casein knife for my son, except the boss (my loving wife) would expect to drag me around to all her favorite jewelry stores, and folks, she likes em all.

Due to an ordering snafu when the red brick and red smoothbone knives came out,somehow i ended up with 4 of ea. . I decided to keep them all at the time, ,i guess sometimes things happen which seem like a foulup,but later on turn into a blessing. .

Nice score Chris! You have some investment there.

I know the people selling this thing, I also know the reserve is higher than the buy it now price of the last one. Good luck buying this one.

I'm going to take a guess that the first at $450.00 was a bargain compared to what we will see in the future. I would not be surprised to see a $600-$750 reserve. I also would not be surprised to see all bidding happen in the last 1/2 hour of this auction.

I think everyone's gone completely bonkers. Does it occur to anyone that there's always a long period where even a one of five knife can be had for a fraction of it's going price when it was "hot"? It may take a year or two but it will happen. Look at some of the previous very limited Queens as an example.

It is not that high though.

Thats good to know. I just checked it and it had moved to $400.00. Looks like the top bidder is working in increments of $25.00, at least so far at this point. If that remains true throughout his bids that would place him at $450.00 for a top bid.

Just saw, that so far he was bidding in a trend.

Well, not that it would happen in this case, but sometimes people get so predictable in their bidding that I have won a few by $.01, but lost a few that way too. Kinda fun to win by a penny.

Can you tell me out of 11 made what was the first SERIALIZED #?? one made and what was the 11 SERIALIZED #number of the last one made ?

Only the folks at GEC would have that info.

Hey Justold52, The one that sold on Ebay a while back for the "buy it now price" was the first serialized in Casein, I believe it was #212. The one selling now had just copied the description from the first seller. I e-mailed them to correct the listing so as not to confuse someone. They corrected it in the description below.

Well, this gal is #220 and she's up to $500.00 at this point in time. It's starting to lookin like that $450 Buy It Now Casein GEC knife was a good deal. It ends in a bit less than 13.5 hours from this post.

Onehutch won it at $510.00. I was under the impression that he already had one.

What do you predict the value to be in 10 years if GEC is a success. What do you predict the value to be if GEC is not a success?

I think I know the location of 5 of them. Interesting mystery if you are a GEC fanatic. Especially for those who neeeed one.

I know he got 7 of the acrylics at the open house and I thought he got a Casein, but I've been wrong more than once, could be twice.

Man OH Man, Isn't that the million dollar question? The Casein, I've heard could be from $1,000 and up, but what about the unserialized 2006 knives where only 1 to 10 were made and they are not shown in the 2006 tally. I have 5 different ones from different sellers and in all cases I asked for and received a packing slip or an invoice that shows GEC did send these unserialized knives out into circulation.

I don't know if they will be worth a $1000 or not, time will tell. There are still high volumne sellers that go to shows every week, don't own a computor and they have never heard of GEC. If GEC fails, they could actually be worth more, I doubt that will happen.

I would like to see the Cuban by now. Seems like it should have been out by now. I hope they make a Barlow soon, I may have to take a 3 3/4 inch 73 and convert it into a Barlow.
