Old Case Fixed Blade

Hi guys. Came across this one recently. Condition leaves a LOT to be desired, but it is one of older Case fixed blades I've seen in awhile. Case is stamped in plain font, no tail that I can see. Guessing 1940-65 date range? Handle appears to be leather with stitching. Love to hear any thoughts/info on this piece. Thanks!

I'm not expert, but I would say it's an old Case outers pattern with the original handle replaced. I believe these came out in the early to mid thirties.

I'm no expert on these either. I have considered buying them and so have boned up some with what resources I have, mostly the D. Ferguson Case book. I agree with edge213 on the likely dates of production, the tang mark fits for the 30's, the handles were likely jigged bone. The blade is so used I can't venture a model No. for you, there are about 6 possible model numbers if you ignore blade length. Any sign of the blade being sabre ground?

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Steve-
Hard to tell due to condition. Appears to be closer to chisel ground style, but totally guessing on that.

Cut down re-shaped "pig sticker" which could have originally had wood or bone scales. The mark was used late 30s-late 40s. By the way, the font is not a plain font, it is a serif font. Serifs are the little "feet" on the bottoms and ends of the letters. Case fixed blade collectors call this the "serif" mark

Here is what it likely looked like originally were it a bone scaled one.

Thanks for the compliment Steve!! I probably have had over a dozen variations of these 62 models including the super rare 6" single edge spearpoint model. Have sold many of them still have a bunch left.
