All About Pocket Knives

Howdy all, now that the powers back I decided to clean up a two dot 110. It was a flea market find in decent shape but with errant sharpening scratches, which drive me crazy. They have to go.

I took it to the shop and hit it with rubbing compound. Nothing. I got out my fordom (dremel) and tried a small wire brush. Nothing. I looked around and found some small scotch bright like thingies for a dremel I had gotten off ebay. I chucked one up and walla, it worked. Finish looks very similar to factory.

These came in red,green and beige. The beige one was the one I tried. I was careful to keep it from edges.

Nice job Pete. I don't mind a few scratches, but a severely scratched blade is bothersome to me as well. I hand sand with various grits of emery cloth (method as published here on AAPK by JerryD and Philco in the past). OH

Thanks folks...I'm not smart enough to take before pics but the scratches were the ones from the corner of the sharpening stone if your not careful. Bob, I'd guess type something like dremel abrasive. It's been years since I bought them. A Fordom is foot controlled so I guess a ran in mid range. P

Glad you were able to bring back that old two-dot. That's a heck of a job, even moreso because I have had nothing but bad luck using a variable speed Dremel cleaning up knives.

That era of Buck is among my favorites, I have a few 110s and a 112 from those years and they are always getting carry time.

Yeah Tony, I like them too. I still have my 112 I bought from the ships store aboard the USS Camden in 1978. It's served a lot longer than I did. Pete
