Deadbeats on eBay

I have been experiencing about one nonpaying buyer a month on eBay. I don't know if it is buyers remorse that causes them to not pay or what. One buyer had three negative feedbacks in one month for nonpayment, and when he finally contacted me, said he had overspent his social security check and wanted to know if I would cancel the sale. I left him glowing feedback as to what a deadbeat he was, as he continued to buy knives left and right even when he asked me to cancel the sale. It seems that eBay does nothing to these people, and in fact I believe I still am out my listing fees. Incredibly, all of these knives that the deadbeats won, sold for far less than they were worth. Anyone out there experiencing this also?

The thrill of winning no money guys that treat ebay as an online game. You should have left negative and reported him, I've had friends have the same problem. Report him as a deadbeat and leave negative, that's really the only way to get rid of these parasites.
I haven't been selling lately so I personally haven't seen it, just heard about it.

Hukk, I've left really negative feedback, almost to the point that's it's insulting. But the problem is no one even cares. The one guy who had four negatives in one month including mine, continues to buy knives, and still gets glowing feedback from the ones he decides to pay. You would think that eBay would eliminate these deadbeats from bidding. It costs the sellers listing fees, so if it doesn't cost eBay a dime, they don't care, they're still making money.

I have never sold any thing on E bay but I have heard that you can ban to buyer.
I do not know how long the ban works.
Or if you have to add it ever time you make a new action ?
You have some real nice knives and it seems the DEADBEATS like you.
Make a list ? deadbeats

You can block deadbeats, my block list is quite long. Although it may not be within eBay rules, I had on occasion seen bidders with bad feedback ratings and blocked them while the auction was in process or cancelled the auction and relisted, blocking those with bad reputations. I did get a lot of info from friends who were not bidding on the items.

It's been a while since I have done any selling.
I even had to report a bid sniper from Uruguay who won a couple M1 Carbine parts on an auction that was clearly marked
UNITED STATES ONLY in big huge letters. Well, by the USPS and Federal law it would be a
FELONY to ship it there.
Anyway, the guy said why not my country and sent a picture of his gun. I just want to fix it!

Well, the stock and barrel were both sawed off leaving about an 18 inch gun that had a switch to go full auto and a nice 30 round clip.

Why do they do this to my father's gun?
I just told the guy that the M1 Carbine was set up to hide under a jacket so that they could kill 8 or 9 people before a security guard could reach for his gun. Never heard from him again.
What I found wrong is that eBay, last I sold does not have a feature to block people from other countries from bidding on a USA only auction.
Something is rotten in Denmark on that one, he sent me $100.00 to hush up I guess, but I reported it anyway. They made him an unregistered user, kicked him out of eBay. That was one of my worse auctions, he tried to get me to falsify the shipping documents, send it to an address in Florida, etc.

I stuck to eBay rules.
Just by curiosity I found out that it was illegal to send those parts there by Googling around. Good thing I did.

I've got quite an extensive list of blocked bidders already. They stay on the list, and don't get another chance to bid.

A seller can now block buyers who are registered in countries to which a seller does not wish to ship. If you specify USA only, then none outside the USA can bid.
The blocked buyer list is also available. Just put the bidders name on it and he or she cannot bid on your listings.
I used to ship to Canada for instance. New mailing rates caught me by surprise so I took it off my list and buyers registered there cannot bid. I will change it as soon as I get an understanding of the rates and regulations.

Thanks Ray, I appreciate it. Looks like my last sale was Feb. 17, 2006 and things may have changed since then or he was registered in the USA. The Carbine parts mess was back in 2005 and it was a USA only but people from other countries did bid. My block list has a lot of names, last I heard you could have 1,000 names.
Looks like I will be selling some items in a couple months, stuff left to me and what not. Insulators, a whole box, they made nice targets, but my folks want me to sell them. Didn't think much of it until I saw one going for over $200.00.
Some things will not be able to be sold on eBay, I have some nice old guns that I will be selling. A 1907 12 ga. L. C. Smith with the external hammers needs to get an appraisal before I sell that. Those started in 1880 and Marlin now owns the name, last I heard. I'd rather have someone have the pleasure of owning them, I just don't have enough time to shoot as much as I once did.
I got a kick out of this, I don't know if anyone saw or posted this, but it's good for a laugh.

i dont sell a lot of knives on ebay, mainly buy them but i do sell a bit of gold and silver and those fools seem to be the worst buyers there are. You wait and wait for them to pay and then when they dont you report it as unpaid and then end up with a retaliatory feedback yourself. The feedback is a joke! seems like no one pays any attention to it anymore because EVERYONE can leave a negative feedback in response to same. ebay has gotten ridiculous with their insertion fees and final value fees etc. et. al. If i had a different venue to use i would.
hukk, are you tallking about the green, blue or clear electrical insulators? man i know where a ton of those are but havent bothered with them because i thought they were worthless.

I have been having a lot of trouble with deadbeat bidders too. I always report them and get my sellers fees back though. They also get put on my blocked bidder list. I have never understood why they waste my time and theirs by bidding when they know that they are not going to pay for the item. I had one guy last month that bought 4 knives from me and didn't pay for any of them. He sent me a dozen or more emails with such poor spelling that I couldn't even read them. Sometimes it just makes me want to quit.

Yeah, proper load in a 7 mm mag (.284 cal) will dust em too.
Nice thing about the .300 mag is you can get bullets that are made for the 30-06 and .308 Win or 7.62 x 51mm NATO, I believe (all measure .308). The thing about a 110 gr hollow point is that it can exit the barrel of a .300 mag at nearly 4,000 fps. Yeah, both the bullet and what ever it hits BOTH desinegrate.
Then we have another beast
WAY up the ladder, a .378 Weatherby Magnum with 77 ft lbs of recoil (from memory compared with a 30-06 at 20 ft lbs again from my memory again) I used to handload a lot and that .378 has almost 4x the recoil of an .06. At 100 yards I put 5 rounds of a 300gr soft nose through a 1/4 inch steel - Not full jacket bullets.
I have absolutely no desire to shoot the .460 Weatherby developed from the .378. Even though Roy Weatherby shot and killed an elephant with a single shot to the head with a .378, african law stated elephants must be hunted with at least a .40 caliber. So, the .460 Weatherby was born.
BTW, I saw that the Army was working with a .378 necked down to a .338. I did both the .338 and .308 neck down in 1972 at age 16 and they were VERY accurate with the proper powder load, better I think than the .300 Win Mag at long range.

I got into ballistics and handloading at an ealy age. When I was 15 and 16 I could not legally buy .22 rimfire long rifle ammo. But my next door neighbor and handloader extrodinaire (with over 50 rifles and pistols) became my tutor. Because even though I could not buy even rimfire shorts, I could buy primers, bullets, and all the different powders I wanted, legally. With the gang bangers of today that is no longer the case.
But, I got an early start, I could go down and buy a 5 lb container of Red Dot for shotgunshell reloading or a 1 lb can of Hercules Bullseye for pistols, the fastest burning powder of that time.
Can't buy ammo, but buy all the powder I wanted. Does that make sense?

Anyhow, that's how I got an early start, about 35 years worth now.
Seems like I can turn gold into dirt, need to reverse that.

I have never had someone not pay.............runs off to find some wood to knock on....
Have a couple folks who pay slow but they buy high priced items and have always come through.
I am sure my time will come. Just a matter of odds. Been lucky so so far.
