All About Pocket Knives

Just found this yesterday, decided it needed a new home.
Thinking 1903-04. small stamp, 1/2" pommel nut, thick blade. The stamp has red ink. Was this standard?
the blade is 6.75", so a little loss.

i would post more pictures but I just bought a new PC with windows 10 and I am pulling my hair out (what's left of it) trying to get things done.

Very nice looking knife, sure looks to be in great shape for its age.

That is very hard too find in such wonderfull condition schmoozer, Gorgeous !!!
And no, the stamp as far as I know did not get inked in red !!!

And remember, when that knife was made, every blade was "hand forged"
made one at a time, I have seen 7" & 8" Ideals blade length from that era wander all over
between 6 3/4" to 6 7/8"...same goes for the 8" blade model

I have a 7" Stag one in my store if you want to compare lines on how the knife was built
from the M.S.A. era to the modern day version of it...
I know for a 100% true fact, on the modern era Ideals with 7 & 8 inch blades it cost
Marble's 20 bucks a knife just to machine the fuller in the blade !!!

You got yourself a scarce, gorgeous knife in that kind of shape !!!

Here is the pommel repair. looks like it might have been done at the factory? Has anyone seen other Marbles stag repairs?

I got more info leaving my brain than info coming in to my brain at this stage of my life tho
It very well could of been done at the factory tho, because the man W. L. was around at that time
stalking the finish room and he did not let much go to waste.

I still have a lot coming into my brain... my problem is I no longer remember just exactly what I have forgotten.
I was perusing the knife online and ran across Shackleford's 2009 knife guide book. the price bump for a thick blade seems pretty extreme?
It is 3/16" or so, as compared to my other ideal which is 1/8". The marble's guide (Vol. 2) says nothing about actual thickness.
It also says that the 1903 model had no guard to make it an easy insert into the sheath.

Now I can see the stamp, its the 1905 to 1910 stamp, double hilts were not used a whole lot
back in them times...also its a fact that the stag pommels were the smallest of all in this early
period, yours is small, they got larger post 1910...
I have saw other knives with your spacers in them....I am no expert on the M.S.A. era..
but if forced to guess when yours was made, 1908 would be it

As an FYI, this is now on eBay. Had to make a hard decision between it and the Randall 1-8.
