All About Pocket Knives

Been pottering with this one for a while. Poor old knife had seen better days and looked like someone had taken to it with an angle-grinder.

Before..... I didn't want to 'bling' this .... just tried to give it the look of an old used but well loved knife.

But I have to ask, why did you reshape the end of the blade? I didn't see a problem with it, so I am just wondering.

Because the very tip was rounded I just wanted to bring it back to a defined point and in doing I rolled the blade on the sander and that's the way it ended up..... In all honesty I simply didn't put much (if any) thought into it.
I guess most of the 'sheepsfoot' style blades I have are the rounded shape rather than the squared off style so I went with the flow.

Great and honest answer Derek! It's surprising how many things happen that way when you're working on knives.
I like sheepfoot blades but I also really like that squared off sheepfoot the IXL has. I have one of my own waiting for modification… Someday. LOL

You probably don't remember Me, but I found your interesting, long lost message, about yourself, and your hobbies, posted, July/07/ 2017. I had posted a picture of a Coffin Bowie knife, and stand that I had made, that interested you. Well, somehow your post got "Swept Under the Rug", and I just discovered it again after all this time. I did some research, and found that you are still active in your hobbies. I wish that I could say the same about mine. I've had to give up building, making, and repairing things, shooting, and anything else that amounts to a "Hoot". My memory has gone the way of my dexterity, and I'm having troubles spelling, thinking , and writing. It's taken a couple of hours to compose this message, and I hope that it makes sense. I wanted to finally answer your post, thank you, and wish you good fortune, in following your hobbies, and your interesting life. Oh, by the way, that is a great job of restoring that Barlow Knife, I really wish that I could restore a couple of the knives that I have., as you did that one. Your friend, I hope?

WOW.... great job Derek!!
That is the type of knife I really enjoy working on. The one that nobody wants, the one that looks like it was abused and pitched up on the work bench to die.
It REALLY makes me mad when I see a blade that has been sharpened with a grinder or a file!
