At one time I had a list of all 2004 Bulldog protoypes for the 25th anniversary. They used a lot of exotic materilas and made some great knives. These knives with Black Lip Pearl on one side and Abalone shell on the other are likely cheap repairs because of cracks in the original Black Lip Pearl. I have seen several of the BLP prototypes with pin crack, almost always at the rocker pin. I still have a small sowbelly I need to fix with BLP, I already have some, just not enough time.

On one he calls it black pearl heart of abalone. ::doh:: ::doh::

I kinda believe the seller knows, funny last Christmas after I pointed it out the seller pulled the items.

No, just a cheap fix, BLP is far more expensive than Heart Abablone and these knives aren't original. ::shrug::

Hmmm I looked very hard at these two items the other day and tried to find them in the newest knife guide but never did find anything written about them. ??? The black pearl, abalone combo really had me scratching my head.

Thank you very much for the heads up Hukk.. :)

Bad name for a cheap repair. ::td:: I've seen a bunch, 7 or 8 knives now with cracked Black Lip Pearl scales, mostly rocker pin cracks on more than one pattern.

2 3/4 x 5/8 x 1/8 BLP run $75 and that's standard grade AND a bit to small. They will need a good 3 inches of BLP and I've only seen 1/8 inch presentation grade in that size for $200.00. Searches around Asia may reveal a cheap source. Look around real careful and abalone can be had for both knives for under $30.00. Too cheap to match the materials. ::td::
