What's up with this LB7?

Post by KnifeSlinger#81 »

Limited edition gold blade? Maybe somebody took it apart, painted it gold then reassembled it

The pivot pin looks to have been worked on in which case it is not really 'mint' & may or may not have come from the factory this way.
The blade might have had a gold 'wash' but as an LB7 collector this does not interest me. I have not seen one of these before so i doubt there was a run of these. Maybe just a few like this were produced for DU as a special 'awards' knife ?
Be interested to know if anyone has seen another example.

::shrug:: Could have made for DU banquet but it just doesn't look right to me, like KJ said the pivot pin is wrong. However I have seen other Schrade Pocket knives with the Ltd. stamp on them . I had a model858 made for Cabelas that came in a brown Schrade old timer box with that stamp on the tang. As far as the gold wash, I've never seen one like that. But that doesn't mean they didn't make it. It has been my experience that D.U. items don't have a lot of collector value after their auctions. ::handshake:: Terry

I think somebody took it apart and coated it, if that is in fact the case I wonder why.

Everything looks correct except the blade finish and pivot pin being tampered with. The LTD stamp is pretty common, I have two lb7's with the same stamp along with various other patterns.

I can't tell from the pictures if the sharpened edge is gold too, if it is that would tell us it's not a factory finish.

What's "DU"? Is that code for something like "Dealer Exclusive"?

I took this picture from eBay and put up a little more in Photoshop and lightened it so you can see better.
Obviously someone has tried to re-pin the blade and left the pen setting proud.

That is a knife to stay away from. Other unused LB7's will show up if you search regularly, and, some will sell for a rather low amount.
