Queen Question

On the blade is etched Queen Steel #62. There is a crown above the Q. However there are no tang markings. Was this a practice in, say, the 70s?

Yes. Etch only 1961-1971.

Quick Steel, I have one of those. Would have bet any thing it had a etch like yours on the blade. Maybe I have two.

FRJ, I hope yours is in great shape. My #62 is virtually mint (no box) after 50 to 60 years: half stops, lots of snap, with the smoothest of openings. I don't see myself carrying it because of the size. Probably destined to be a safe queen.

Well, I just stumbled back into this thread.
Thank you, Quick Steel. My 62 is not "minty", I sharpened it long ago and have carried it minimally.
It is very clean and in good condition.
The blade is 1/16" shy of 4 inches so according to Connecticut state law it's legal. Connecticut does not allow honorable taxpaying citizens to carry a knife with a blade that is 4 inches or longer. Apparently either the knife or the person carrying the knife becomes
dangerous at the 4 inch threshold. It's stupid.
