Antique Bone - A Lucky Find

Over the years I've had to turn down many requests for repair for a lack of being able to match the old jigging and colors of a lot of the antique bone we see on so many knives. I recently stumbled across someone with a nice stash of these old beauties and since he specializes in automatic knife repair they haven't been of much use to him. A long story made short, I was lucky enough to purchase his stock of these old bone slabs. Pure luck is the best definition I can express on this deal and my relief to finally have a nice supply of them. I hope you all like them.

I always wondered why a modern company like Culpepper didn't offer a version of these? Even the older Case red bone is impossible to find. Were these proprietary products with the company owning the machine that jigged them and no one else being able to produce anything similar? Seems like someone would have bought the old jigging machines and made a huge profit.

Wow, great find indeed! Beautiful. I imagine you will have to be somewhat selective regarding which knives are worthy of bone like that, seeing there is such a limited supply.

Those are great Bob! ::tu::
A few years ago I got a few sets of Schrade Walden bone. I was thrilled to find it.

Yes Bob, I've often wondered why someone hasn't tried to produce these today myself. Indeed Mike. I won't be putting these on just any knife that rolls around. They may never be available again.

Bill introduced me to the guy that had them. No doubt I owe him for that.
