I WAS WORKING ON A CASE CLASSIC SWINGGUARD CHEETAH AND WHEN PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER THE LOCKING BAR THAT GOES ACROSS THE CUT OUT SLOT HAD DROPPED DOWN QUITE A BIT FROM UP WHERE IT SHOULD BE. IT WAS DOWN A BIT FARTHER ENOUGH TO LOOK LIKE SOMTHING SERIOUSLY WENT WRONG. WHAT DO I DO AND WHAT DID I DO WRONG WHEN REASSEMBLING

Hi Dennis, pictures would help a lot.

I agree with Phil, pics will help a lot. I will surmise from your comments that perhaps you didn't use a the proper size pin in either the blade pivot pin or the lock bar pin. That, or your holes where those pins were has changed somehow.

Lock back knives can be a bear to get everything just right.

a picture would be great. A while back Kaleb was making a set of swing guards for a Case knife and asked for help with measurements. I remember that the hole is almost exactly 1" from the front of the swing guard. Perhaps you have these turned the wrong way and the shorter distance is throwing you off. They can be turned the wrong way. Don't ask me how I know that. Just remember there are no mistakes in knife repair - only experiments that didn't work. Keep experimenting until you get it right.

Pics are worth a thousand words as they say but going off what I read here it sounds like some pins were too small in diameter. please post a couple photos if you can

I will try to get a pic. I reassembled the knife. The bottom lever part of the knife stuck down a little to far. I did notice the hole was a little bigger than 3/32 like the rest of the knife. This was the only hole that was larger. It looked to me like the pivot hole in the front bolster needed to be lowered some bot that made no sense unless I messed something up putting things back together. One other question. I tried to put stag on without taking the knife apart. I used 5 min a pox you and that was a no no. It's about impossible to get all the glue out of the lock. Thanks guys I will try to post a pic. After playing some I dis get it to go back together alright. Pic coming.

Here are the pics boys. I rehandle this case classic. Here was my issue. The lock bar sticks down to far.

could be the pivot pin is a little undersized. you can bend the lockbar to fix that too. in most cases they are very soft.

Thanks Kaleb. How would you bend the lock bar. Would you disassemble the knife again. Second I believe the lock bar did have a pretty big hole. Could this be the cause of this. Thanks

yes that could be the cause or inadvertently grinding the liners down with the handle stock. remove the rocker pin, remove the lockbar, bend the rear half down a smidge and reinstall termporarily with a proper sized pin and see what it looks like. A little goes a long way
