Case Trapper with fish tail oak scales

I think this wood is called fishtail oak. Any how, finished it yesterday while it was 110F in the shade. 120F in the garage.
What do yall think?

no. I just ripped the scales off and redid.

what is your method of securing the handle pins?

the pins shown are for decorative purposes only. My attempts to peen the pins from the backside were un-successful. I need an anvil like in the pocket knife repait book that is small enough to get in there.
