The rust on the blades was measurable.....I had no idea it how bad.
Don't ask how long it took....
BUT I'm glad it's done!

Scott, very nice!
I can see where that example had orange / red rust in addition to the charcoal carbon oxidation.

Did you use some kind of sanding block (piece of wood, sponge, rubber eraser, etc) or just your fingers?

On this knife I set the blade on a wood shim on a piece of marble and used finger sanding because of the hollow grind on the blades. Very time consuming

That has come up VERY NICE
(Having done a few, I have a fair idea of just how much 'elbow-grease' went into that refurbish - and it didn't happen in 5 mins)
Off on a slight tangent ....with those sanding jobs in can be quite meditative/relaxing if you are in the right frame of mind and in no big hurry.
