All About Pocket Knives

I have had this Case 2011 6254 CV Trapper since it was new, and have used and carried it quite a bit, really liked the knife, but the bone coloring was never a favorite of mine. So it kind of fell out of the rotation.
I found these really unique looking rough jigged buffalo horn handles on Culpepper website, and ordered them thinking they would look cool on that trapper...
I got in touch with our Bob P. (Elvis here on AAPK) and he said he would be happy to take on the task! Here are the results! He even pinned on an older style Case shield for me to replace the glued on one. I am blown away by the improvement, and can't thank Bob enough, he did an outstanding job, and it turned out better than I had hoped. Now I have a truly one of a kind Case that is going directly into the rotation!

You have to be very careful with the BH.. Over on the CCC forum there is pics of knives that were ruined by Dermastids, carpet beetles.. They live in flower beds, house plants and can come into your house on clothes, shoes etc.. John

Bob has some skills for sure
He was able to retain a good amount of the texture of the scales for a solid grip, yet polish them up enough to make them look quite pleasing to the eye as well. He also managed to work with an area on one of the slabs that was a little thinner than the surrounding area, and blend it in so that it is unnoticeable, and even all the way around. And the pinning of the old style shield was a fantastic bonus!

Glad I could help Mike and even more so that you like it. Rumors of my retirement may have been slightly exaggerated.

Not so much. I own two guitars, but can't play well at all. Actually I was very worried if I could keep doing knife work at all for quite a while. I had some pinched nerves going to my right hand that were really holding me back and an operation in 2015 that didn't help at all. Fortunately I had the surgery repeated late in 2016 and it seems to have worked this time. I'm really enjoying being back in the workshop!

Well it's great to hear that you are feeling well and are back in the workshop! I don't believe we've ever met on the forum before but it is a pleasure. You sure do some fine work.

You must to have went to the same drs.as my wife the exact same happened to her. Great work on the knife, much respect.

I like the idea of taking your favorite knife and having it re-handled. Making a one
of a kind knife........

Maybe will do it soon.
