All About Pocket Knives

Hey all,

A fellow named "Jake" introduced this little knife to the members back in 2005.

When I first picked this little dude up (handled it) at the Pigeon Forge show in December of 2005, I knew it was a winner. It looked and felt so much like a William Henry, that I made that remark to the dealer. He told me there may have been a little collaboration with the design between the two (just a rumor.) The knife was so smooth, so well finished; I couldn't believe it was a Case! I grabbed up two from the fellow at the time and have since added several others to that line in my collection.

The knives were made as a tribute to John Russell Case, using the finest materials and craftsmanship available. They've done a fine job!

The Slimlock has doubled in value. They weren't cheep back then, $150.00 for pearl or abalone handles, 6.5 bone stag or bone for $125.00. Well, the Pearl now goes for around $350.00 and the others have increased respectively. They have some limited edition Slimlocks that are selling for $500.00.

It's an awesome little knife, IMO the finest (most refined) Case knife ever made.

I notice one had BG 42 under the model number. Are they all made with BG 42 blades? That certainly gives me a much better opinion of them if they went to the trouble to use that steel. I really like the look and think a lot more can be done with these guys, but that's for the custom guys.

You're fight, I think it is a winner. I did post how much more they could have done with the Mastodon Slimlock that's on eBay now with a $500 bid. But that's not Case's cup of tea, looks like they have a very fine winner here that will only increase in value.

Thanks for sharing, BG-42, I never saw another Case knife with that steel.

I have six of them Hukk, and each one is BG-42, I would have to assume they are all made with that steel?

I tell ya, they truly made a "factory custom" here.

Nickel silver bolsters and liners. It's a liner lock knife and each one of mine snaps into place with precision. They used some type of stand off washer at the pivot; it's smooth as a babies butt opening and closing, no rubs, no scars, no brass on it anywhere! I am really impressed with it!

BG-42, Very Nice!

Yeah, great looking knives with an excellent steel. Doesn't get any better than that. I think BG-42 would have been more popular if the CPM 154 and CPM S30V had not come along. Still an excellent steel.

I don't know much about steel composition, but I'm glad to hear a good one was used for these knives.
