could anyone tell me if a metal handle was ever available on the rb44 barlow, I just bought one off of ebay with an aluminum handle. the fit and finish is perfect and the blades are worn but authentic the whole knife looks right to me, just wondering

The Remington 44 barlow was not offered to the public with metal handles. Although I have saw some other Remington patterns that had aluminum handles that I'm pretty sure that left the factory that way. One was a R3333 scout . Possibly made as a take home knife by an employee or a small run of special order knives for a paticular organization. Remington did offer an aluminum handled electrians knife in a R43 pattern. RIght off the top of my head thats the only pattern that I can think of that was offered with aluminum handles.
