All About Pocket Knives

Vellie Interesting and a neat concept. Thanks for posting this Cal. Although I think I would have cleaned off the Verdigris before listing it. Just sayin'.

It is a retention setup seen fairly often with Norwegian & Swedish knives; simplest is a short stud projecting from the pommel end and a piece of leather with a hole that pommel stud goes into. The leather piece is at the top end of the belt sheath.

That system was new to me, Roland; you have some nice knives there. I have been curious about Scandinavian knives but that is one area (among many) that I don't know anything about. For that reason i have been reluctant to buy anything. I do have one knife that was made by Western States in the style, just before WWII.

Calvin, your knife is a Finnish style "puukko-like".
Finland is not part of "Scandinavia" which is Sweden & Norway. Finns are ethnically distinct with roots in Ural Mountains ?
And Finnish knives are distinct from knives from Sweden or Norway.
It is hard to learn about these knives because little is written on them in English. I have been trying to learn by buying one of everything, it's the Buddhist in me.
