All About Pocket Knives

I picked up this valley forge knife a while back. One side of the knife is original. The other has been rehandled. I've seen some of the work you guys do. Very nice. I'd like to match the brown jigged bone if it's possible. If anyone is interested in this task please pm me. Thanks Keith

finding a matching replacement will be very difficult. Unless you don't mind hunting a replacement handle for a year or three a full rehandle would be in order if you want a timelier option.

Time isn't important. I guess I don't know exactly what I'm wanting. Just to have it match I guess. As a non knife mechanic I can't hardly talk intelligent. I need someone to tell me what to do. I like the knife but hate the off handle.

Keith, your pliers knife is highly collectible. Here's an approach to consider. Keep the aspirational goal of replacing the missing handle with a period appropriate handle from a donor knife of that era, but in the near term replace the handle with as near a matching handle as you can find. When, and if, the right handle comes along swap the modern with the donor. You're potentially doing some throw away work if an appropriate handle materializes.

Valley Forge and H. Boker knives were made in the same factory in Mapleton, NJ from the early 1920s until the 1950s.
An old Boker donor knife might be a match.

WR Case & Sons and maybe Case Bradford has this same knife that was made by Valley Forge. Your knife would be worth about 3 times more if it was marked Case instead of Valley Forge.

Keith I have this old H. Boker. If you think the scales would work for you I would be glad to send it to you. Both scales are in very good condition but as you can see the Blades are well worn. Measure the space on your knife and let me know what it is. I'm out right now so it will be a week or so before I can measure mine.

Kieth if you haven't already started a repair I have a few knives I measured against my VF pliers knife and I think the bone would swap out fairly well.

My knife has found a great guy to fix it. Thanks everyone for advice, direction, and information. Keith
