All About Pocket Knives

A friend of mine is interested in trying to restore this. We don't know what it should look like. It kinda looks like a medical bolo to me but it's only 14.5 inches long. Anybody know what it is or have a photo of one in good shape?

Plumb tools have been around for years. The knife was made by them. Google "Plumb Tool Company knives" and you will find pictures and history concerning the bolo knife.

This is a reproduction made by Atlantic Cutlery. it should give you an idea what a brand new one looked like.

Thanks guys. I had already looked on the 'net, but the one I found looked like it had a replacement handle. But after seeing wazu's example I see the textured handle was done on purpose and not just unpolished rasp marks.
One more question I can't find the answer to: What does the C T stand for?

We thought of Connecticut but there's a period after the C and the T. Is there a St. Louis Conn?

You're right C.T. has another meaning.
I picked this off the US Militaria forum for you.
"With the beginning of WW1 the demand for bolos let to contracts being issued to Plumb and American Cutlery. Plumb produced the Model 1917, which was a Model 1910 without the scabbard catch and fully dark Parkerized at their Philadelphia plant, but due to Ordnance requirements submitted a simplified version which finally was adopted as the Model 1917 CT with CT standing for Commercial Tolerances. This was a military item, not civilian use. There is no civilian version of this bolo until the KIFFE versions of the 1960s with the plastic grips."
