All About Pocket Knives

Hello everyone!

I am a new member here, and I was hoping that I would be able to utilize your guys' expertise to identify this pocket knife. Long story, my girlfriend lost one like it and is hoping to find another, so I'm hoping to find one as a Christmas present for her.

She claimed that it was a Winchester, and it does resemble the new model that Winchester is selling today. She also said that it was partially serrated (as shown in the picture), and the logo was much smaller than the one on the modern copy of it.

I have scoured eBay and other online sources for another knife like this, but I have not found a single knife that matches this. Any help is appreciated.

If the last image you reference is the one she had, I'm sorry but I don't see any difference between that one and the one on Amazon.

Generally, the two knives look similar; however, thanks to Jerry's side-by-side reposting of the photos, I noticed a significant difference in the thumb ramp / finger guard /flipper lever area at the pivot end. In fact, the newer (Amazon) model doesn't seem to have a flipper opening option, only a thumb stud. Also, the wood scales are different because the knives have different frame profiles. Plus, the newer model has a lanyard hole.

Is the other folder to the right of the "identify" knife really small as well? The pictured one seems larger than the Amazon knife, which I found in a few other locations and none of them have flippers as Q pointed out. The Amazon knife is only 2¼" long closed, so it's a very small folder.

I'm assuming that the two knives are similar in size, but I can't say that in certainty. I've never actually seen either knife myself. The picture of older knife has been resized and cropped because the picture also contained many other knives.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but she claimed that the knife was her grandfather's knife. Although, I doubt that it's very old. I am very inexperienced at identifying knifes, but I was guessing that it was from the 70s or 80s, but it could be from the 90s for all I know.

Still not exactly the same as the OP knife (good price, though). Apparently Winchester made a number of different patterns with a similar "theme" i.e., part serrated drop point folder with wood inserts.

~Q~ that's not a picture of the original knife so we don't really know exactly what the original looked like.

Oh...I must have misunderstood. I thought that older, grainy photo was a photo of the original knife. However, if that's not the case, it's going to be impossible to find an exact replacement if no one knows exactly what to look for.

Next option: buy the girlfriend a metal detector and let her search for the lost knife herself!

Option two............new girlfriend.

I beg to differ on the new girlfriend option, philco...any woman who is that into knives is a definite "keeper" in my book!
