nail mark

Is the nail mark position a standard for all manufactures, the california clip, pocket clip and saber blades seem almost identical to me except for the position of the nail mark. I am wondering if this is a way to determine what blade I actually have on a knife .

No, the same blade pattern can have different nail marks in different locations. So that would not be a way to tell what blade pattern you have.

I do not have a specific picture, I was referencing the knife blade illustrations found on the case college website.

Hey David,
The shape of the blades may vary slightly between cutlers but, will still be identifiable as a clip, spear, wharncliff, etc. Nail pulls, match strike, long, short, single, double, will be as inconsistent as the wind (as far as placement on the blade goes) from one company to the next.
Read, read, and when tired of reading, look at pictures, lots of them.
