All About Pocket Knives

Any Masons here? As a Past Master I and considering a knife with the emblem and such possibly with my name. Typically most are Chinese made and low quality. A quick web search shows that Case and a few other's do or did make logo knives. It could be a folder or even a fixed blade I can put in a frame for my wall. Hopefully under $100-150. If I frame it I will have a tag made to put with it.

I've done a little traveling myself. Watch ebay.Old Masonic knives show up fairly often.Some high quality made ones in pearl that are mint some up if you are patient.

No but my father was born there I think 1907. Fennville, Michigan I prefer new because of my 3 years as Master of the lodge. I did check Google and see Case and Frost, possibly one of our own here can make new scales or a design to their own or I can supply it for a mod. Bob

Bob, the company Voos, of New Haven, made quite a few masonic pen knives with pretty cloisonné enamel handles. Ebay might be your best bet, It might take time to find one that best suits you but that just adds to the fun

I have traveled as well. I have a couple of the Case Masonic knives. Blue jigged bone Full size trapper and blue smooth bone mini trapper. Very much like them both. Congo Lodge #743. Benton, Arkansas.

I resurrected this old thread to show this recently acquired Masonic pocket knife, It is 3 and 1/8 inch overall closed, 4 blade (1 broken), aluminum handled, and has a bail. Tang stamp is Curley Cutlery Co New York. The file blade is marked Curley's pat Dec 8-85. Engraved onto the aluminum handle is the Masonic Logo with the number 610 which I assumed meant that it was lodge #610. However when one goes to look up where lodge #610 is located, it could be in any of 6 places including, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi, or Ohio ??????? There is also what may be the year, 1912. Goings has the Curley Cutlery Co in business during 1902-1903. So maybe that is not the year either. Was there actually a Curley Cutlery Co, or was this made by another of the well known New York companies?

Here are a couple that l own. The key knife is a . J. C. & . N. Co.; the pearl is unmarked as are the 2 daggers. Not sure what the medal is. My dad was a 32nd degree grand poobah or something like that. He retired long before we met. Long story.

I do not know about the manufacture.
I know several Masons, though I never joined, and if I understand correctly the Lodge number is different in each state.
Lodge #610 would literally be the 610th Lodge to open in that state. It could be any of the 6 that you listed, or it might be in another state and have closed down over the years and no longer be active.

Not too recently, my visit to the post office produced this lobster or gentlemans' pattern or style of pocket knife. It now becomes my first example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also became the latest example to be added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is an ORANGE CUTLERY COMPANY, one blade, one tool (a file with a blade tip), two tang stamps, 3" closed, lobster or gentlemans', pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "ORANGE (over) CUT. CO. (over) WALDEN, N.Y." The tool back stamp also says, "ORANGE (over) CUT. CO. (over) WALDEN, N.Y." The main handle side has a MASONIC symbol, logo or emblem. The main blade has a SOFT half stop, a GOOD opening snap and a GOOD closing snap. The tool also has a SOFT half stop, but it does have a GOOD opening snap and a GOOD closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. This pocket knife did NOT need any cleaning at all.
I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

AAPK member lt632ret (R.I.P.), wrote a short article regarding ORANGE CUTLERY COMPANY and included pictures of
three tang stamps and four different ORANGE CUTLERY COMPANY pocket knives. The article and the pictures
can be found in his book, "Knives of the Hudson Valley - 160 Years of American Cutlery History"
The whole book is a VERY INTERESTING and VERY INFORMATIVE read.

I'm going to try and find a copy, I called Richard every few years, trying to get him to sell me his farmers jacks. I think our next to the last conversation was when he sold a Schrade forever calendar knife on eBay.
