All About Pocket Knives

Here are the images of the Acrylic Open House pieces that were sold at GEC Titusville plant last week....with the new end cap .

I have 3 of them and the pictures do not do these knives justice at all. Let me see if I get the numbers exactly right this time, I hear there were only 71 made. The new end cap or rear bolster really sets these knives off and they have a great look. I hope they consider keeping acrylics in the knives they sell in the future. Look good, stable, will never outgass, a lot of positives there to keep a little acrylic in the inventory.

But, I'm a big fan of the old fashioned bare head also. How about a 3 3/4 inch Barlow, loosely based off the 3 3/4 inch trapper?

Are these acrylic GECs the "casein" ones that there was talk of them a while back?

If not, I'd love to see one of those, if anyone is lucky enough to have one.

Also, any word on that "Havana" or "cigar" that was also talked about a while ago?

The acrylics are a different material than casein. JustoldKen showed us a casein a couple posts down in this thread...

Guess those are some pretty low numbered runs, and they all look pretty cool.

No, Acrylics and casein are different, only 11 casein were made.

It's actually solid ivory white in color. I herar there may be some on ebay, but they may go over $500.00. 1 was there for a few hours before it was snagged up for a buy it now price of $450.00. I'm sure there will be another, but that went so fast, they will certainly ask more. Casein is a dairy product.

No, it will be a desk Queen (bad pun). No, 1 of 11 will not be used, nor the 1 of 4 or 5 Chocolate bone, non serialized. None of the 2006 for that matter, a couple 2007's that are duplicates of 2006 knives will be used. Man, that river vally green is a great looking green color, I really like those, I will likely use a bocote.

Did you manage to get the full 2006 set? I'd stick that in the safe deposit box and give it a few decades to age properly.

And make sure your great grandkids dont take them and throw them into trees or something. [shudder]

YES those girls need to be seen in your hand.
They have a lot of kick the them too.
The photo's do not show the swirls in the colors well.
That last one blue and white I would call her Glassier Ice.
Very BEAUTFUL looking.
I all most bought one like here, but passed.

Their were some super Green so I went back the next day to get one.
All of them were gone. So I got this blue green one.

That was a nice snag on that cassein, a little too steep on the buy it now for my budget . How did you ever ge a hold of that proto??

This is the one that was for sale on E Bay.

I had never heard of Casien handle material until these posts came out. Awesome looking stuff, you have a real beauty there Justold 52.

I did manage however to get my hands on a couple of the acrylics. Pretty cool stuff also. I was never into "plastics" but this stuff I like!

Now you see what I meant when I said you have to have them in your hand to get a real good look at them acrylic beauties.

Have you tryed to come up with a name for the colors yet ??

The burgundy is pearlescent, like a pearl paint job on show bike or car.

The blue is wispy like a light blue cloud covered sky.

The green is sort of pearl also, with darker “veins" running through it like small streams.

Awesome stuff! The more I look at them the more I like-em.
