Cleaning Stag discolored from Leather Sheath

I had a friend give me a handcrafted 8" damascus steel in Elk Stag skinning knife with sheath. He warned me about keeping it in the leather sheath too long or it would discolor the stag which I love.

Well as you can guess I have kept the dang thing in the sheath bouncing around my truck for a while and yes it has discolored the stag. Is there anything out there that may restore it back to it's natural state. I tried rubbing alcohol but it did not seem to work.

Thanks,

Hi sunburst

I have no ideas for you, but I bet a good taxidermist would know what to use...??? If you get the job done, I'd like to know what works...

Many of the cleaning agents that might work would probably discolor the antler material.

I would check Blade Forums. I swear that I saw a thread on BF regarding this, but when I looked, I couldn't find it.
