All About Pocket Knives

They look pretty cool. A CEPAGE LAGUIOLE, made in France. They look fairly well made. It also appears to have some sort of file work done to it, but it's not on the back spring of the blade. Also, an interesting little ornate doohickey that resembles a fly to the left on the filework photo. Anyone have any clues as to what that might be?

Thats the Napoleanic bee, most French Laguiole type knives have this on the backspring.

Hi Dewman. The fly at the end of the spring is a Bee. This is the traditional symbol of Laguiole knives and it dates back Napoleonic times. s-k

Thanks for the information guys. I meant no disrespect to Napolean or the French when I refered to it as a "fly".

I must of hung out at all the wrong places. The Bartender knife I remember looked like the one below. Let's see, yeah Red's Recovery Room was a real dive, open at 6am and close at 2am. Sometimes they just closed early, had something to do with the sheriff telling them, or else.

Man....that's why I love it here. A great, friendly bunch of guys with a tremendous sense of humor and an absolute wealth of knowledge that's always offered up freely and with the patience of Job to a real newbie. NO, that was a really BAD place, full of bikers carrying their own big bore chasers in Cotati Ca. No "Hamon" rye and wine was in a box. Lot of Bukk 110's.

Reminds me of a place I went in once, the "Spotsylvania", in Breckenridge(known by the locals as "beer can ridge"), Texas. They would stop you at the door and ask, "Do you have a gun or a knife?". If your answer was "No", they would ask, "Well, which one do you want?" and issue you one. I never did go back to see, but I was told that it was a real mess when they swept out the guts and eyeballs, every morning. Nice place. Hukk, I think it must have been the same bartender. I never forget a knife.
