All About Pocket Knives

Other than being made in Japan I can't find any thing else about them.

I have a Saber BARLOW, Jack and I got a 3 3/4 inch Stockman this week.
Fit , Heft appearance are equal to most of the Imperials of the same time period.

I have a handful. Couple of fruit knives and the rest are medium jacks. One is a Sabre 605. One is a Sabre-Monarch 205 and one is stamped Monarch 2205. All Japan of course and all seem to be sturdy, well built knives.

If my memory is not completely shot, Sabre and Kabar were at one time owned by the same parent company. Don't know if that would influence quality of either brand but I find Sabre brand knives to be okay for the most part. I don't get too excited when I see one at a junk store or a pawn shop .

All 3 of mine are Carbon Steel.

They take a,good edge. My Jack is a 205.

Sabre was a trademark used by Cole National. They sold knives made in the USA, Ireland, Germany, Japan and Pakistan. Cole National also owned Kabar from 1966 to 1996.

Until just recently seeing Sabre mentioned on here I had more or less forgot about them. Probably had a couple back in my youth, but long gone. Do remember them being sold at different places back in the day at least.

My dad used to call a Sabre knife a "Japanese Kabar".

A week from now I'm going to put it into my rotation. It a Solid stockman.

Solid low cost Knife.

Good stockman.

My Sabers are working fine.

I carried a knife similar to the 677 as a young man. They were solid, 440A steel knives. When I was 13 years old on a road trip with my family, Mom borrowed my 7" Saber to spread mayonnaise on our sandwiches.

Good times.

They are pretty good knifes.

They hold their edge pretty good.

This saber Stockman got the right stuff except it has to be helped to close all 3 blades.

This old Saber Stockman is doing great on Saturday duty with yard work etc.

Give it a touch up on the Lanskey Crock Sticks and it nice n sharp.

It cuts twine , bags of mulch and even an Apple for a Snack.

Carried it Saturday as I have since about Jan 1017.

I carry and use this Saber Stockman each Saturday, I also scored a USA Saber Stockman today on the Bay!

The only Sabre I have which qualifies as Chinese (sorta) is a yella S24 fish knife stamped "Hong Kong":
I have a bunch of regular and granddaddy Barlows plus a few other patterns under the Sabre marque, but all of those are Japanese-made.

They seem to be equal to the task so far!
