All About Pocket Knives

I became a "Full Time" collector in the early 1980s. Glad to know there are so many here that have the same interests.
I enjoy the incredible amount of cutlery knowledge within AAPK. It's like opening up a new book and reference guide on every visit. Always something new to learn.
I look forward to sharing my postings and pictures with all of you.
I mostly collect old folders of all makers. Vintage character knives are always "Top Shelf", Old knife books and cutlery reference books, "Lavine's Expanded 3rd Edition" is one of my most read. My favorite knife is the most current one I acquire.
Married for many years, my wife is Vietnamese, but she was made in China. She tells me that I am her P.O.W. (Long Story) she's a keeper. She has very little interest in my Cutlery, but has contributed to my addiction and gifted me with some great knives and books over the years. And yes, even "Rough Riders"
Other interests include: Woodworking, Swap Meets (Our Grandchildren spells it: "Swamp Meats"). Metal Detection, Photography, History, Gold Panning.

I enjoy woodworking, photography and history as well. Or at least used to.
I lived, many years ago in Castro Valley, around Hayward. 1965?

Old Folder! What a great username. Old traditional folders are my favorites too. You'll enjoy the friendly nature of the AAPK forum, controversy doesn't prevail, it's a great place!

I would like to thank you all for such a warm welcome.
I have posted some family pics on the "what do ya'll look like?" topic, here in the "General Off Topic Discussion Board" It gave me a little practice of posting pictures here.
I'll get some knife pics on soon. I'm just an amateur hobby photographer. But many of your pictures I have seen here on AAPK look to me as if they could be applied right into "National Geographic Magazine."

Hello Dave;
I was born in Marion Indiana in 1948. Due to my Fathers work we moved to Texarkana Texas in 1956, than Laredo Texas in 1957.
We finally returned "Back Home Again In Indiana", Richmond Indiana, in 1958 (Very fond memories of Richmond) good place to grow up.
We than moved to California in 1961 due to my Fathers work (again) I was 13 years old, I did not want to leave Richmond, but at 13 years old, my vote did not count.

When I worked for NCR, I Drove past there many, many times on my to and from Dayton OH. In fact at the IN/OH state line was where the "degaussing station" was. That's what we called the arch over I-70 with the "Welcome to Ohio" sign mounted on the East bound side and "Thanks for visiting Ohio" on the West bound side. It was a joke amongst the guys that worked for NCR in Rockford IL. The premise was that that arch would magnetically erase all the knowledge we had absorbed while in school in Dayton so when we got home we couldn't remember anything about the piece of equipment we had just gotten trained on.
