I was just wondering if there really are certain books that you guys would hate to do without when it comes to information on your collections.

I would have to say that the information seems to be out there (Internet) but you have to sail with Sinbad on his treacherous voyages in trying to collect it all piece by piece.

I am finding out that this cozy site is quite bountiful in the information catagory....Thanks

HI!

I have about 12 books in my arsenal and growing. The ones that see the most use are Goins, Encylcopedia, Levines 4th edition, Sargentss Knives and Razors. I couldn't be without them. But they fit my focus of collecting well, yours may be different entirely. Hope this helps.

I have the 3 books that PA mentioned, and I would not want to go without them for sure. In addition, I would not want to do without Gerald Witcher's Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery and to a lesser extent, Jim Parker's Case Classics book (just because I'm kinda getting into that area of collecting). I really like the old books / dealer catalogs too. Dewey and / or Lavona Ferguson's books make great reference material. Old manufacturer catalogs are great fun to look at and are very informative also. I've acquired quite a bit of that stuff. The list might be endless now that I think about it...

Well I really appreciate your reply's. It looks like the search is on, actually it has been going but mostly in circles... :)

I have been looking for Levines 4th edition but no luck yet. One fellow has it listed on Ebay for $235.00 so I asked him if maybe his numbers got mixed up and he said no that's the price...After choking on that one I decided to move on....The 5th edition has so much bad PR that I feel like I should just shy away from that one. The Knife Collectors encyclopedia by Jim Parker is probably going to be my first stop along the trail, just because I think I can get one shortly.

Thanks,

Hi, Ya'll...
I have a 3rd edition Levine's that I would sell. It has been used but is not dog-eared or written in. The cover is OK, just has a few little wrinkles in it. $35.00 + $4.50 shipping.
I also have a 4th edition that is very gently used. It really just has a little shelf wear on it. I will take $45.00 + $4.50 shipping.
If anybody wants to buy a Case Classic book, there were some, listed on Amazon.com.
I have 3. 2 regular ones and 1 of the leather bound(1 of 100 printed). All 3 are autograped. Guess I'll just keep mine, unless somebody makes me the offer of the Century on them.
Let me know if you are interested in one of the Levines. I also have an autographed 4th edition, but it's MINE!
