All About Pocket Knives

I am just getting into researching and purchasing Case pocketknives and had a question for the more advanced....do the Case Tested knives have a pattern # stamped on opposite side of tang? All the (tested) ones I run across do not have a # and I wanted to make sure this is on the up&up. Thanks from a newbie.

Welcome to th site and even tho I am a long ways from being a Case expert, I can tell you that their Tested knives did not have a pattern number. I am sure that some of the more experienced Case collector guys will drop in with info on just when Case did put pattern numbers on their knives.

Hello Southern Girl, Very few tested knives had pattern #'s. The early XX knives also were also found without pattern #'s. There are exceptions a few tested knives were marked with a pattern #, and most XX knives had pattern #'s on them. Good luck collecting older knives they are more fun to me than new knives. The hunt is sometimes long for a certain knife but enjoyable.
