A most interesting set. I only have two questions:The ad shown with the knives depicts the saw and two skinning knives;it does not show a steel or a filet knife. Was there possibly a deluxe edition that included these additional items?
My second question concerns the Bowie knife: If I recall correctly there were numerous fraudulent Tiffany & Co bowies circulating around in the 1970's. Could this be one of them?
It is obviously not part of the set but then again it may have been ordered at the time the set was ordered. Let me be perfectly clear: I do not know the seller and I am not casting aspersions on his reputation or honesty but I would want some serious documentation and provenance before opening my wallet that wide.

Made in 1890? I just wonder how many Buffalo were left by then. I guess being from Tiffany that was more of a costume for the rich and famous than an actual working set. I noticed his company "Jerimiah Johnson Trading Co." (One of my favorite movies by the way) is a bit odd for a shop located in Connecticut. Maybe he just adopted that for this one sale. Never the less it is a very cool set but I'm afraid if my wallet was wide open probably wouldn't be enough in there to buy the piece of carpet it's laying on.

I'll pass too. I wonder who made them for Tiffany?

Ya know, I dug the 25 thou. out from underneath my mattress and was gonna buy that set but then I decided to lay down and take the mattress for a little test spin and see how it slept with out the 25 g's. It wasn't all that comfortable so I put it back. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

I can just imagine what that looked like!

That is a fine looking set of knives, and if they were made in 1870 they would be in the time frame of the great buffalo slaughter. Somehow I just do not figure that the average buffalo hunter carried nice Tiffany gear. But I can see an Eastern dude carrying something like that on a trip to the west - it sure appeals to me!

Looks perfectly authentic to me and although it is neither my interest or my budget category, I believe the $3500 price is not at all out of line (seriously). Right now I am working on a pizza coupon and paying off my local bike shop for a tube.
