Nice Lockwood "Real Pampa Knife"

This is a nice Real Knife Pampa by Lockwood Bros Sheffield. It also has C+ X on the tang but no England. Do you think the blade has always been that shape? The knife is 6.3"" open and 3.5" closed. The scales are made of horn I think and apart from wear from sharpening and little sloppiness in the blade hinge it is in reasonable nick.

Yes, it has some wear but it was originally a castrating knife.

It's used for castrating young/smaller livestock not for human use!

Thanks for that but being a farmers son I did know it was for animals watched my dad castrate sheep but not with a knife like this.

Nice Lockwood Bros knives guys. The Pampas name and bird trademark came-up elsewhere so I did a little research. The bird is a Greater Rhea a.k.a. a Pampas Rhea as it is found predominantly on the grass lands of South America. Not sure why they chose it though. Here's a nice sleeveboard pen knife.

There were two reasons for the "Real Knife Pamper" name and the fighting bird. One was because of the ease that other foreign manufacturers found it to fake the CX trade mark and the second reason they were exporting to South America.

This a Lockwood I picked up at the flea a couple of weeks ago. Have cleaned the rust and polished the handles since the taking the pics

I HATE the thought of what it is. Darn, and dratt.
It's a pretty knife, and I don't get where patterns come in. My modern kitchen knife can do what that folder did.\
Why is that a castrotater, and any other knife not?
