Hey guys,
I've see alot of lesser expensive Henckles 4 blade congress knives on the Smoky site($24-$39). Does anyone have any of these knives. How are they & where are they made? I'd rather burn my money than send it to China! All the Henckles I've seen are older one & they are awesome but so many companies are having stuff assembles in China & I what no part in that! Please let me know if you have any info on this matter.
Thanks & God Bless!~

Swede, I don't want to sound like I'm bashing SMKW, but I've seen some things they advertise or leave out of advertising that makes me leery to buy with confidence from them. One is their dealings with the old Schrade stock and the "Made Off Shore" labels that avoid saying CHINA made.

But if I may say so, Zwilling J A Henckels Hand made Solingen is up there with Tree Brand and German Eye. Here's a couple from my collection that are personnal favorites.

Since you are talking about Henckels, does anybody know how long they have been using stainless steel blades over carbon? I was just wondering if there was a certain year or time that all of their blades went to stainless.
Thanks

Bryan #2,
Thanks for the info. looks like I'll be calling Smoky tomarrow & ordering some Henckles. I really like the looks of them & the price is right!! As for the sainless blades, several Henckles I've seen new have carbon steel blades. I don't know if it's only on there now & then commemerative models but there still making some Carbon steel blades.
Thanks & God Bless!~

Swede, I too own several henckels knives. One is genuine stag handles with setp boldters. I do know that most knife show competitions in England they win hands down. wt3l.

This may already be common knowledge but I was just reading where Henckels contracts Boker to manufacture all of their pocketknives.

You are correct sunburst. I don't believe Henckels has made their own pocketknives in almost 40 years. Boker makes them now...I believe other contractors have made some over the years as well.
