All About Pocket Knives

Hail, oh wise and worldly Bulldog masters ...
Looking for confirmation that these handles either ARE or ARE NOT a form of celluloid; more to the point - might they degrade or gas-out at some point?

I don't know for sure but being a Bulldog I would suspect it is.

I would agree. Bulldog has used a lot of celluloid, and some of the variations are quite nice. Like yours. For what its worth, I have had some Bulldogs with celluloid since the mid 1990's (Duckfeather, Coon Stripe, Tortoise Shell) and they have not off gassed at all - yet.

I think the handles are acrylic, which is stable.
I had a 2007 Bulldog with acrylic handles so their use of acrylic goes back to at least then.
Ebay seller "silverladdie" owns Bulldog. If you sent him a picture he can say with authority what the handles are and when BD last used celluloid.

Some bulldog handles gas, others not so much. Bulldog called that handle "peacock". Wasn't made until 1993. That handle material is very stable in my experience.

Tom is "peacock" a celluloid ?
Is there any handle material other than celluloid and acrylic that can be used to make multi-colors ?
Those are the only 2 i know of.

I really don't know what the material is. I have just handled a lot of Bulldogs with composite handles and have observed which handles are prone to gassing and which remains stable.

What year is it? They did use cell back in the day, infect Germany was the only place too get it for a long time. All the ones I have are very stable sofair. I have all the "End Of Day's knives" and are fine ,just some shrinking.

Paul, I have a handful of Bull Dog Doctor Knives, one of them with those very same handles. Great looking knives but even though I've had them for over ten years and there is no sign of gassing to date, I'm giving serious consideration to selling all of them.
