All About Pocket Knives

Can anyone tell me about the diefenthal Solingen knife pictured? I looked on the internet and found very little about this co. I also checked e-bay, found two for sale, but neither were the same as the one I have. The box is marked 4160, I'm thinking that's the model number. The tang has no marks on either blade. The blade is etched D 2000 Razor Steel Razor Keen, 100% Made In Solingen, Stainless Steel. It has a round logo that says Diefenthal Solingen around a circle with three knife blades on a spindle inside. The knife is well made with thick stag handles, good snap and no wobble. The shield is brass with the same logo as the blade. The blade is a lock back, the saw is not. I know nothing about this co. The knife was a gift from a friend. Any info. would help.

Mike, I really like the profile of the main blade.

When I first looked at it, the first thing that popped into my mind was Puma. Then I read what you said. Made by Puma maybe???? I'm just guessing in the dark here.

Jerry, I was thinking the same thing,so I looked on the Puma web sight and found nothing. If you google diefenthal knives you get a link to Sanders knife store on aapk, but nothing is found. I guess it's still a mystery!!!

I have a couple of Diefenthal folders and they are indeed very well made. Not sure if they make their own knives or are contracted by someone such as Olbertz. Nice little knife! Here are pics of mine;a single blade and a 4 blade.

Knut, those are real nice. Looking at the blade etch, the logo is the same, but the other etch is different. Did you buy your's from a store, or off the net? Do either of your's have a tang stamp? I did a little more looking around on the web and found a Josef Diefenthal, but he was a Nazi war criminal put to death after WW two. YIKES!!! Well, I guess still a mystery.
