All About Pocket Knives

I found this at my local knife shop. Owner said it was the last Queen knife he had. And I happened to be looking for a doctor. How does she look?

Docs were my first love (after fixed blades) and Queen made the best. Queen made for everybody and his brother (knives, not necessarily Docs) and you can almost pick them out by the quality. Great acquisition there.

Very old pattern shows in Schatt & Morgan catalog for1903. This one in carved stag bone was made between 2002 and 2006. Some versions show 420 steel and some D2. I'd prefer the D2. I like this pattern a lot - fairly long main blade and 4"handle let you get some leverage and sharpened they will cut very well. I must admit I am not too sure of any need for the spatula blade - smearing icthamol on carbuncles, etc ---19th century medical practice.- I like it with the second blade as a pen. I also think, like Gunstocks the square ends are "pocket-busters." I always carry them or give them with a pocket sheath. I've given several of these to physicians and they LOVE them...comments about capability for emergency tracheotomy have come up twice.

You're right Keystone. As a child, my mother and father used "Ointment of Icthammol" to draw the cores from boils and the main blade to open the offending infection. Those Doctor's knives are something, aren't they?
