All About Pocket Knives

I spoke with Dave Shirley about the possibility of making a Cotton Sampler knife with Stag Handles, and also a white buffalo bone which looks a lot like primative bone. There would be 200 made of each and that's it. I don't know what the price would be as of yet, but I'm sure it would be very reasonable. The handles would be laser cut by Northwoods and they would have D2 steel. I would like to get anyones opinion if they would be interested in such a knife. You don't have to make a commitment just if it would be a knife you would consider if it was available. They would be assembled by Queen. Also, what style blade would work best ie. the Tony Bose, or the Shatt & Morgan? Right now I am commited to 20 of each. Knowing Dave Shirley, it will be a great looking knife.

Stag handle S&M Cotten sampler works for me

I'd consider anything Northwoods puts out, Jim. I'm sure everybody else would too.

I was thinking of getting the Serpentine Jack next, but I could easily talk myself into saving up for one of those instead.

You are not making placing an item on top of my "to buy" list very easy there Jim!

John what blade do you think works best with the cotton sampler. The Tony Bose or the Schatt & Morgan?

If this is the Schatt and Morgan Cotton Sample Blade you are considering (Photo Credit: I stole it from a jonet posting here), then I prefer it over the Tony Bose.

I'm kinda a sheepsfoot/wharncliff fan, and that Schatt REALLY works for me. Really, really works for me!

Is that the S&M blade you are talking about?

Would it be easier to use that since it is a Schatt/Queen blade?

I'm not trying to steer anybody one way or the other (well I guess I am, since I really like that one!). What I am trying to do is learn more about the process. I've always wondered what is involved in one of these "SFOs" or what happens when "so-and-so ordered 100 knives".

I'd REALLY like to follow your progress, I think, as a new guy, I could learn a lot! Get get some real "hard-core" collector knowledge, like the rest of you fellas have!

i like both designs but if buying another repro i woukd prefer the older case desigh. similar to this bulldog.

I would defiantly buy one of either style in stag but i would prefer the TBose flat choil style. Heres another sampler blade pattern to consider, it was made by Queen also in 1993.
What type of steel? 420, 1095, D-2 or maybe! ATS-34!?

And just so I can see everything in one thread...the Tony Bose...

Hey Jim here is another sampler style for you to consider if your interested..This Rogers was only about 2 1/2" when closed so it's a lot smaller than most samplers..

theres a 5 inch kabar like pictured above on ebay.

I saw that rigwelder. Starting bid is $49.00. Curious to see what it goes for. I think it has wood handles.
