All About Pocket Knives

Anyone been inside an original Remington 1306 (not one of the re-makes, or the knock-offs from Titusville PA)? I've got a chance to pick one up--a "fixer-upper" in need of some serious repair--and would like to know what I'm getting into before I make a decision. How is the lock set-up? Any photos?

Spring assembly is very close to a queen mt. man. It's a one piece spring/lock bar with a fiber butt spacer that also acts as a bearing surface for the spring. A replacement spacer could be made from paper micarta

GEC lockbacks are close but they omit the fiber butt spacer and integrate a steel one into the spring that rests on the lanyard tube.

In fact I think I have some NOS springs around here somewhere, shout if you need a pic I'll dig around and find them

Thanks MM! I've had a Queen apart, but the thing was so poorly-made in general that I wasn't sure how it was intended to be. Do you know how it compares to one of the Camillus-made Remingtons?

Sorry, I haven't had a Camillus repro apart in so long I can't remember the exact spring configuration.

I have to agree on the queens, every one I ever seen had vertical play new out of the box.

Thanks again. The knife I'm considering would require at least a new blade; given the blade wear I suspect the lock mechanism is probably also pretty worn. I think I'll pass on this one.

Jim is the knife in question anything like this Camillus 1306 that I recently modded? If so I have a couple of unfinished knife skeletons. Like new from the factory. I'd be willing to part with one if you need one. They are tang stamped DY.
