All 3 of these 4 3/4" Sod Busters were made in the Olbertz factory. "Schlieper Eye Brand" is the brand name of their own knives. They also did a lot of contract work. These 3 knives although branded differently are all in essence the large Eye Brand Sod Buster, same steel, same workmanship, same quality.
Top knife is "Art Ullis/Tacoma 7, Wash." "Solingen/Germany" on tang. Unused and nicest of the lot. Beautiful maroon colored wood handles, perfectly rounded.
Middle knife is an older used, sharpened "Hammer Forged/Carl Schlieper" with 2 eyes in the etch and "Carl Schlieper/Solingen Germany" and "D.R.G.M./1423923" on the back side tang. This knife is older than the so called "3 Eye" Schlieper knives.
Bottom knife, unused and really just as nice as the Art Ullis. The handles are a rich almost black wood.
I don't think it is Ebony but not sure what it is. Blade is etched "Fight'n Rooster" with the logo/Solingen on the front tang and "Frank Buster/Cutlery/Co./Germany" on the back side tang. This is an early F'nR, made in late 1970's.
So: 2 never used and one used, all have good walk and talk and no blade play.
($175) How about $140 which includes PP fees and USPS shipping.
$46 per knife which is a good price for older German Sod Busters. An unused Eye Brand Soddie, same size, just sold for $180 on ebay
