All About Pocket Knives

Hello,
First I do not know anything about Robeson Knives, so please forgive me, but I picked this one up at the Gun Show today for $10.00 and could not let it get away. Any info on Value, Age, what kind of bone the scales are made of, and how scarce it is, would be Appreciated! Thanks in Advance!!!!!!

Wow! Thats nice. I really like that bone handle. I'm guessing it dates late 1930's or so. I'm not an expert but I can say that I like it. Nice score! And for $10.00!

Very nice and worth about ten times what you paid, IMNSHO.

I see almost no wear to the bone, so I cannot think it was carried much, if at all.

Blades have patina.

Nice PocketEze shield.

Definitely well before WWII.

I am sorry if I offended anyone! I stated in my original post that I knew nothing about Robeson Knives, in fact, this was my very 1st Robeson Purchase. I have purchased 100's of Case Knives, and have given info and answered questions for others on this site. Not trying to take advantage of anyone, just trying to make a little money, as I am retired and on a fixed income. I guess my mistake was telling everyone what I paid for the knife. No worries, I will close my account so I do not offend any one else. Thanks to everyone who helped me with info, especially Mr. Charlie Noyes!! God Bless America!! Also, I have purchased knives from Several Stores on this site and never had a problem with any sellers on AAPK.

If you had stated you were seeking information to assist in your Ebay sales, no one would have thought anything about it.

I freely offer information on anything Robeson related, but I have to admit, I felt a bit like an unpaid consultant to your Ebay business and I've felt the same toward others after similar questions were answered and knives promptly sold.

Heck, I even had one guy that would just cut and paste my descriptions/opinions of his knives into an Ebay auction description, word for word.

So, you did nothing wrong. Just be more forthcoming with your intent when you ask questions.

Plus, you're a bit new here and we haven't gotten to know you very well.

Just wait til we know you better and somebody might really rip you a new one.

I did not mean that I wanted to be compensated. I do not do that. I would just have liked to know why you were seeking information. My response would have been a bit different, in that I would not have suggested a dollar value. I am not an appraiser, generally, as I do not wish to have somebody lose money or feel that I misled them as to a value on a knife. I view Robesons differently from knife dealers and what I think they might be worth to me, is not necessarily what others might think.

There has been no harm done here. I am not offended. And, you need not leave AAPK because some of us felt "a little used" as Lyle put it.

I consider myself a huge Robeson fan & especially the Pocketeze series with the hidden tangs. That said, can we see a pic with the blades closed?

So hang around, you might find that you attain enough knowledge to answer your own questions. The only thing you might need to apologize about is if that moniker stands for Tennessee Met Fan. Hey we Braves fans around here.

I met Tom Seaver in 1968 when I was 10 years old, Great guy, and he was very nice to me, autograph, handshake and a great conversation, so I have been a Met fan ever since. All my family are Braves fans, so it's been kind of fun with all the bashing we have done to each other over the years. But Mr. Seaver gave me a cherished memory that can never be matched. Go Mets!!!

Trying to make heads or tails out of your post in this thread where you mentioned "hidden tang". How 'bout expoundin' on that for me? Is that specific to Robesons only? What's the sayin', "Inquiring minds want to know", this time it's "an ol' redneck wants to know" .

I think the term he was looking for was "sunk joints". The "Pocketeze" mark refered to these as a means of pointing out that the knife was less likely to snag the insides of one's pocket if it had the sunk joints.

Exactly. ^ he worded it better than I. With sunk joints the back of the blades don't stick up (much, if at all) above the frame of the knife. The idea was that a knife made that way wouldn't eat up the inside of a pocket.

Thanks for the additional pics. It's a fine looking knife. In my opinion Robeson's jigging was some of the best.

Since we all like to look at knives.. Here's a pic of my only Pocket EZE example.

I never met Tom Seaver and even though I liked the Cubs in 1969, I am a Seaver fan. At the start of his career, Seaver pitched for the Mets from 1967 to 1977. When Seaver joined the Mets they were arguably the worst team in baseball.

Seaver's Won/Loss record for those years: 210 / 116 which is 94 games over .500 (.644 winning %)
Mets Won/Loss record for those years: 868 / 907 which is 39 game UNDER .500 (.489 winning %) including Seaver's numbers

To me this comparison is what demonstrates how dominant Seaver was during these years. (not to mention 3 Cy Young awards, multiple times leading the league in strike outs, ERA, complete games, etc.).

The 3 Cy Young awards is pretty impressive, too when you consider who else was pitching in the NL during these years (Gibson, Carlton, Jenkins, Drysdale, Marichal,..)

The Braves had a chance to sign Seaver, but let him get away
