All About Pocket Knives

can anyone help me out with info on this recent find i had

It is a budding of pruning knife and Wustof was in business starting in 1895. Levine shows the firm to still be in business as of his 4th edition of the late 1990s. Not really sure when his 4th edition came out. Not a high rated collectible and well used. It'll be a good one to use in the garden this spring.

Ray, Wustoff knives are collectible and well made too. Plus there are collectors of horticultural knives.
I agree it would be useful to a bud-grafter but it does have some value as a collectible

What did you pay for yours? I'm thinking of bidding on a bone handled I saw.

The top knot on your knife is a form of a spud. It is used to loosen or open bark in a root stock for a bud graft.

I actually got it free in some old junk from the in-laws basement

I don't believe I said it wasn't collectible, did I? Nor did I say it had no value.

Ray, i was interpreting these words: "Not a high rated collectible and well used. It'll be a good one to use in the garden this spring." to mean that the OP knife is best suited to be a user.
There are 2 collectors who routinely remind me that they are interested in any Bud Grafting knives i might want to part with. I have not seen a Wustoff one before and i know both of these guys would go for this one.
My take is that this Wustoff Bud Grafting knife is both more collectible and more desirable than your post seems to imply.

Wustoff makes some fine high grade kitchen knives under the trident trademark. Most anything I have seen that 2 Wustoff has made is great quality. Nice looking little grafter!
