Boy Scout 1047 mod.... the knife from hell.....

Just finished this one, started out as boy scout version (1047) of the 72. It was crappy but cheap. Lots of pitting on the blades and the handles or I should say what was left of them was for the most part epoxy. Sorry no before pics. This was knife from hell. Did not have much luck at first. Things were so bad that I almost threw it in the garbage. The liners bent and inner surface of the liners were gouged very bad. After making new handles the darn thing did not want to go back together. Things started to bend real bad. One liner bent into a v shape. I had to hammer the liners flat again. Normally that never works too well. This time I was surprised! I mean really surprised! The scale on that side bent with the liner but did not break. I liked black paper micarta before. Now I like it better! The liner that bent has a couple of small fracture lines, but are hard to see. Had to make pins 3 times before I realized the pin holes were just barely out alignment. Don't know how the Camillus folks managed to put this together. So I re-drilled and aligned everything and put her back together. Cleaned up the liners best I could. Here she is! With a few pics taken as she went together....

( I made this jig to drill the liners so that the holes would line up. After watching a video that Kaleb made that showed him using a steel plate with a v notch to do this.)

I am very happy with final finish. Handle material is black paper micarta that jigged with a corn cob pattern. What a test this guy put me through. But in the end its kinda cool to look at.
