All About Pocket Knives

I have posted about this old HS&B toe nail before trying to get information on the maker, the age and any additional information you may have. Scott helped me out alot on some information about this knife. Can any of the old knife boys tell me what this bone looks like to them it could be NYKC, Ulster, Camillus, or Utica.

Hello Stockman, super nice elephant toe. I am almost positive that is called rogers bone, and maybe someone can seconded my opinion for you, and just maybe this can narrow down who made it for HS&B.---Thx Mark

Hello ratlesnake, I also thought it was Rogers bone, do not know for sure who made the knife. You must have gone back along way to find this post. Thanks for your help.

Hello Stockman, I do not know for sure. It would be difficult and just a guess cause the rogers bone company supplied there bone to most all other company's back then. Hello Stockman, If you can start a NEW SUBJECT "WHAT CUTLERY MANUFACTURES MADE KNIVES FOR HS&B" then we can start eliminating the ones that did not use rogers bone or are seldom seen with rogers bone. And probably narrow it down to 1-3 manufactures who probably contracted that knife. One of the tail tail signs for me is to find out which company out of those that we find, MADE KNIVES WITH LONG PULLS ALL THE WAY TO THE TANG--LIKE YOURS(definetely early knife)--UTICA KUTMASTER DID NOT--AT LEAST I HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM TO THE TANG BY UTICA--what do you think there bud??--I have a good feeling after knowing the manufactures that made knives for hs&b we can get really close to nailing it. I still have difficulty identifying Rogers bone. Sometimes it is obvious and with this knife, I would never have guessed it. Also, trying to understand what is referred to as "early Rogers bone", is another problem for me. Would this knife be considered "early Rogers bone" or just Rogers bone? That really is a fine looking vintage toe-nail though.

Thanks MM, I took a scam of my Camillus Toe Nail that I told you all earlier. It has steel Bolsters and is a 4 line. Poor picture couple clicks might help.

my bad, I thought you were just asking about the bone in your OP... I have a camillus jack w/ bone thats very similar to that on your sunfish.

Hello tmwsiy, You are both correct to me. Probably both of your knives have that rogers bone. Rogers bone was used on alot of knives by many cutlery company's. I have also posted pics of my utica kutmaster that has the rogers bone. Thx Mark

Nice knife!

If I might make a suggestion for your scanning.............I find I get better scans if I put a towel, or a piece of chamois over the knife before scanning. Even a manila envelop will help. The white top of the scanner has a strange effect on the pic if it is left uncovered.

Thanks Dale, Also I have a problem with my picture size, sometimes they are nice and large and sometimes small. I don't know why. I have not changed anything. Usually if they are small I can click and make them bigger. I don't know computers and would throw this one away if not for AAPK.
