All About Pocket Knives

When my shop was still open, a customer brought me a knife that I couldn't believe. It is a Case large trapper(unsure of pattern#),commemorative, with the scales and blade depicting the Ku Klux Klan. When I tried to find out the possible value, The Case rep told me that it could not possibly be a Case. Does anyone have a clue to age or value of something like this? John has been offered $500.00 and was told it was made in the early '50s.

It probably is a Case knife, but Case did not make a KKK knife. I see these alot at gun & knife shows, and Case has addressed this issue in other forums. Some companies buy a Case knife then rework it with new handles and etching to commemorate the KKK. It did not leave the Case factory like that.

I have a friend that has 2 of them. The knives were made by Case, but the handles and stamping, were done on the aftermarket. Look at all the SFO"s (Special Factory Orders) that Shepherd Hills Makes. The knives are Case, but they have the handles and special markings done by someone else.
Case cannot afford to be affililated with the aforementioned organization(KKK). I don't think they could EVER condone their actions.That would be political suicide.
One of the major players in the distribution of modern knives(whom I can't name), told me that he can, and does, get most ANYTHING, put on any kind of knife. Ethical??? Who can say.
Look at the marking on the tang of the blade. That is the best way to tell when it was made. The oldest ones I have seem, were made in '96. I saw a couple, recently, that were made in 2000.
I'm sure that someone else will have a say in this. That's about the best I can offer.
Tell your friend if he wants to buy a couple more, made in '96 or '97(red bone and yellow plastic, in hard shell boxes), I can get them for him for about 75.00 each...

When John showed me the knife, he said he had it for more than 35yrs when he bought it at an estate auction. I offered to relieve him of it, for a nominal fee, but he will not part with it (political reasons). Still, politics aside, he is still one of my best customers

I saw a Case xx KKK knife advertised on Gun Broker about a year ago. I think they had a reserve of $150.00 on it Gun Broker has a lot of unusual items for sale on there. Some guy on there is trying to sell a Case Mako that was revised into an automatic switch blade knife.
I'm sorry, I just remembered , that was on Blade Auction. "Oh Well old age ain't for sissys."
