The reason I asked is that I have an air gun collection and was curious as to what you had in yours IF you had one going.

When instructing younger kids (evidently I'm still one or else I wouldn't have the collection) I've found that they tend to enjoy the biathalon styled rifles due to their "cool" looks. Marksman put out a couple of models of that style and though they aren't powerful they are good training rifles for both pellet and BB. They can be found on the web for fairly low prices especially in auctions. The pic attached is one found on the web and not of my own doing.

Does it leak when using CO2 as well? Being 20 years old or so it's probably in need of a reseal. First link here is for a place that does repairs on all types of airguns and does really good work but that 990 may not be worth the shipping, parts and labor for them to do it. If you're capable of doing it yourself then parts can be purchased (link takes you to parts available) and you then have an evenings project to fiddle with.

I don't think I have a 990 but I won't swear to it. I didn't think I had a model 26 until about a month ago when I spotted one in the back of my bedroom closet. I've got over 150 airguns around this place.

The attached pic shows one air rifle rack in the background which is full to "overflow". There's another rack just like it against the wall to the left plus there're three 4-place wall racks on the walls in that room. There's a cabinet with two drawers full of air pistols, four air rifles and a pistol in the room I'm in plus about ten others in the bedroom closet. Match air rifles are in a case under the bed plus a few others are just here, there and anywhere. There are no varmints on my property.

TripleF, My nephews take those BB guns apart and replace the O rings and they work great.

BTW, I was wading through my "stuff" room and discovered that I do have a Daisy model 990!

[Have been following this thread with interest and look what I found at a garage sale today. Reasonable at under $75.00 I would be willing to bet it leaves the barrel at near a 1000fps. A good buddy of mine is going to attempt building a 30 caliber. I wish I could say it is vintage but it is not. Draw back is it is louder than a .22 short. Not a shot noise just mechanical and air.

That's a pretty good air rifle for the money and looks to be in good shape. Just don't "dry" fire it else you might cause damage to the piston and/or seal. You're right in thinking you can get over 1,000 fps out of it but that would be using light pellets like PBA's or others under 7.5 grams.Lighter pellets tend to tumble and you lose accuracy at over 15 yards. Use the heavier, domed pellets and you should drop down into the 850-950 fps where the rifle would be most accurate and consistent.

Ruger has their air rifles made by Xisico/BAM. I've got several BAM air rifles, underlever, sidelever, breakbarrel and they're all good performers. Nice find!

Pretty good eye there, Cam. It's a Tempest. Here's a better pic of it plus some other model pics. These pics fit in here because there're BB and pellet guns in the background so I'm still on topic.

The last pic is what I call the Slingmaster. Rubbersling-launched scaled down Ringmaster. I caught some flak from Ringmaster lovers for the name (Ring Wurm) on my Ringmaster but...they need to develop a sense of humor, methinks.

If anyone is interested I ran across a couple of neat ones today at a collectibles shop in Washington. A Daisy Red Ryder and
Little Beaver number 750 of either 1000 or 1500. And a NRA special BB gun that looked like a Winchester 94. They were high priced but not off the charts. I will post pics once I figure how to get then off my flip phone onto my computer. This vendor had quite a collection of cap guns. Only bought one knife a Rh 36 PAL utility knife from WW II.
